On Saturday’s live game in the 22nd round of the Serie A1, Vibo Valentia came back from Loreto’s Palaserenelli gym with a tie-break victory. The serve proved to be the main weapon of Jon Uriarte’s team to beat Loreto, which had got off to a brilliant start (25-16) and managed to force a tie-break after trailing 2-1. Loreto were also ahead for most of the fifth set but Barone and Gonzalez made the difference on the serve. Loreto is now three points from Forli and safety.
Alessandro Paoli (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “Shame because we got off to a good start again. Despite the fact that Vibo made it hard for us with their serve, we managed to push it to the tie-break, in which we were tied at 12 all. We wanted the three points at all cost but in the end we got only one. Hopefully, this will be useful to stay up”.
JON URIARTE (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We certainly haven’t played a brilliant game. The spikers were too nervous and inaccurate. Still, we won it and consistency is important at this time of the season”.
